Web Accessibility Statement

Health Well recognises the importance of ensuring that its website is accessible to everyone and across the widest range of web browsers as possible. If you find this not to be the case please contact us at info@thehhealthwell.info

Standards

All pages on this website comply with the recognised international standards: the World Wide Web Consortium's  Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG). The Health Well has been designed to meet Priority 1 and Priority 2 checkpoints of those gudieliness.

The design of this website pays particular attention to:

  • Images and image maps
  • Hyperlinks
  • Text (paragraphs, horizontal lines, phrases, punctuation and symbols)
  • Colour useage and coordination
  • Tables
  • Frames
  • Language
  • Use of applets and scripts
  • General Information

Health Well uses cascading style sheets (CSS) for visual layout.

Many documents on the website are only available to download in PDF format. This requires you to download and install the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software. This is available from the Adobe website.

Images and Links

All decorative images on this site contain both ALT text and TITLE text. These tags are commonly used by browsers to render 'Alternative Text' for every decorative image; some browsers render these tags as tooltips. ALT and TITLE text may be picked up by the specialist screen-readers used by disabled users, and in many cases this text can be rendered audibly. Users with images switched off in their browsers will see this ALT text displayed as place holders where the images would normally appear within the webpage.

All hyperlinks on this website use the TITLE tag. This means that tooltips for links are displayed in commonly used browsers. Specialist browsers used by disabled users may also use these tags to aid accessibility.

Language

The website should be understandable by anyone, including people with cognitive disabilities, poor readers and those for who English is not their primary language. Technical terms are used only when necessary. The Health Well uses plain English and application has been made for cerification by the Plain English Campaign.

  • Firefox for Windows: Hold down the 'Shift' key, the 'Alt' key and the access key, followed by the 'Enter' key
